Columbia Pictures was sold in 1989 its illustrious history prior to this can be found here. Sony the electronics organisation were the buyers of Columbia Pictures, this was a growing trend of Japanese companies purchasing American firms.

Unfortunately Columbia did not hit its previously dizzy heights during the 1970s, this led to the sale of the compant to Coca-Cola the drinks manufacturers. This led to increased investment in Columbia, Coca-Cola were committed to the cause and founded Tri-Star Pictures, in 1987 Columbia and Tristar became one company Columbia-Tristar.

Columbia Tristar has gone from strength to strength, a chronological list of Columbia Tristars films can be found in our credits section, this was so comprehensive that they had to be broken into pre 1980's and post 1980's
